Terms of hire
These apply to every booking. The person who makes the booking is responsible for the group.
Alcohol on board
Western Australian law is specific about this, so we are too. BYO alcohol in a charter vehicle is only permitted where all of the following are true:
- the vehicle holds an on-demand charter vehicle authorisation under the Transport (Road Passenger Services) Act 2018
- the vehicle is equipped to carry no more than 14 adult passengers, excluding the driver
- the hire is for at least one continuous hour and was arranged before the trip started
- alcohol is consumed on the trip and not packaged to take somewhere else
- anyone under 18 is accompanied by and supervised by a responsible adult
The driver must not allow anyone who is drunk to drink on board, and can refuse service or end the hire. When alcohol is being consumed, the vehicle counts as regulated premises and the usual offences apply.
The exemption does not apply to school functions, including school balls. No alcohol is permitted on any school booking, on any bus, regardless of who is travelling.
To confirm with Mick: Which vehicles in the fleet hold a current charter authorisation, and confirmation of the seated capacity of the 14 seater. On a plain reading of the exemption, only vehicles equipped for 14 or fewer adults can offer BYO.
Conduct on board
- no smoking or vaping
- no illegal drugs
- stay seated while the bus is moving
- nothing thrown from a window, and nothing hanging out of one
- do not distract the driver or interfere with the controls
- no abuse of the driver, other passengers or the public
The driver can end the hire on the spot for behaviour that makes the trip unsafe. If that happens the fare is not refunded and the group makes its own way home.
Damage
Normal mess is expected. Damage is not. Breakages, damage to the interior or exterior, and anything that puts the bus out of service for the next booking are charged to the person who made the booking, first against the bond and then for the balance. See our bond and cancellation policy.
Timing
We turn up at the agreed time and we expect the group to be ready. If boarding or the return runs past the agreed finish time, extra time is charged.
To confirm with Mick: The overtime rate and the increment it is charged in. Perth operators typically charge per 10 or 15 minute block.
Capacity
Every bus has a legal seated capacity and we do not exceed it. Book the bus that fits the group, and tell us the real number, not the optimistic one.
Routes and delays
We plan the route with you and follow it. Traffic, roadworks, weather and events can affect timing, and we are not liable for delays outside our control. If a route change on the day is unsafe or not possible in the time booked, the driver decides.
Luggage and belongings
Bring what you need but keep the aisle clear. We are not responsible for anything left behind on the bus, though we will always try to get it back to you.
